My son says exactly the same thing about Everybody Loves Raymond, he hated Raymond so he couldn't stand the show.
I liked him, but what truly won me over was the character of Raymond's Mom… which is so brilliantly conceived, and written, and acted… that I'm not sure anything has ever been done better. Shakespeare pales in comparison and I mean that LITERALLY.
Our Miss Brooks and Life With Father were simply oversights by me. Loved both. I was using a top 100 list to 'remember' the shows and these two shows didn't make the list. I'm sure there must be others as well.
Family Affair was one of those shows that I never saw, as in NEVER. Obviously it must have been up against another show that I watched religiously.
When I want to 'stun' people, although they NEVER believe me, I start listing TV Shows that I never saw, not a single episode, although I 'knew' of them and saw the ads for them. Shows like: Dallas & Falcons Crest? Not sure that's the right name for the second one. I never saw an episode of Friends until the show ended and then I saw a few episodes in syndication.
But NO episodes at ALL, not even in syndication, like Dallas and Falcon Crest?
Well… hard to remember but a few would be: (I may get the titles wrong) And also note: I'm not listing these with 'pride' at never having seen them… I just didn't. Various reasons.
NYPD Blue?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
General Hospital (almost no soap operas..my wife loved a few so they were on when I was in the room occasionally, but I don't know which ones)
King Of The Hill
Lost
The Real World
St. Elsewhere
Twin Peaks
The X-Files (actually I saw ½ of one episode
I used a top 100 list of TV shows to make that list, hence the alphabetical order… there are many others I'm sure.
Frankly… that others, and I think nearly everyone, saw ALL those shows baffles me. How did they do it? Some were before VCR's. Did they have two TV sets going at once when two of those shows were up against one another?
