Just free flowing thought from a well lubed mind.....and recently cleaned keyboard.

After creating a thread and entering the topic in the subject line I can't just hit the tab key to move directly into the text field, I have to mouse into it. I tried using my powers of telepathy but they don't extend to the webernets. I can get over that. But since this is a "findings and fixes" board for now I think we should be nitpickey. Especially since the admins have done a great job so far pimping out the new board and we all know they want to roll out Ultra Premium product.

Yes, it's annoying to me also. Looks like we all need to move to Macs....thumbs down since I too get the same thing and I'm a tab key user myself. I'll see if there's a way to cut off the tab indexing on the rest of the controls on that form, but I doubt it's possible. Now if this was a windows application that I was writing, we'd be in business.

I don't like the flags yet. Maybe I will but I would like to see a different method to illustrate posts I have not read. Maybe something simple like bold/italics denoting things read or not. I think the flags are too big anyway. Maybe even a small arrow would be an option. I think the flags look bad. They drag down the look in my opinion.

We'll be replacing the flags with another image.

Is there a way for a poster to set default font size and such for their own posts? One that would be automatic. I've tried and I can't.

No way to control this from the user's perspective on a individual basis.

There should be a "How To" thread stuck on the top when this is launched for the basics in order to help the guys who weren't involved in the testing and may have some issues since they didn't get to play in the sandbox for a bit like we did. Fair is fair. I would guess a lot of regulars are going to have questions about all the things we did. I nominate Trio Bio to stay up late for several nights putting that thread together and properly formatting it for the rest of the board.

Jimmy's considering working on a series of help videos. If he decides not to do it, we'll work up something else since I do think that this software is not as intuitive for the end user as the old software.

What about the homepage? It's got no @#$%&. It looks architectural. Some color variation between the different boards would be good and would solve it for now.

I'll see what I can do, but the old software is similar in nature, and most people simply bookmark the HERD board and never even go to the lobby (not sure why, but they do).

I still think that the subject in an original post should be in larger font, and bolder than the responses (other when I respond to a post of course).

Keep in mind that the software bolds every post you haven't read, and we're also now bolding every thread starting post regardless of read status. We've also added the thread separators which help identify topics.

We need a martini smilie and a smilie with a wine glass too. And maybe a few that are more friendly as in "just messing with ya".

We're not done adding smilies. Feel free to link to some that you want and I'll get them added. I'll see what I can find also.

I think the smilies in the subject lines have to go away for sure.

I think you're right.... they give the appearance of being "bush league'ish", and I'm one that uses them.

Things I love....since we have all been beating you up about what we don't like.

The shading at the top of each text box in the responses to a post are sweet and a very nice visual touch.

Embedded vid. Titties!!! Same with URL's and pics!

The graphics are crisper looking to me, much cleaner.

It seems to move faster and I have not gotten the message that it's expired. So the software is for sure better.

Quoting and articulating text is so simple compared to what it was that I think it will lead to fewer misunderstandings.

The bullet point option is a good one and I think it'll help people be more brief and to the point. I should have used it for this post. But there wasn't a "how to" posted yet hehehe.

Excellent job so far.

Thanks Les, we're working hard to get this right before moving everyone over.

When do we see a Blackberry and iPhone app for the Herd?

There is a iPhone mod in the works for this software..... nothing that I know of in regards to Crackberry's

Thanks again Les..... this is the type of stuff we need out of this testing period. Feel free to post anything else that you think we should work on. Also, we are keeping a "punch list" that we can make public if you think we should. I didn't think you guys would be interested, but if you think it needs to be, I can post it here.
