QuoteFlorida_Ram As I said in a recent post, I'm done debating Jared Goff and prefer to let the rest of this season speak for itself. I will simply mention a few obvious things he needs to accomplish or these posts will continue and continue and continue. Goff needs to.... 1, Win a SB ring. 2. Be the MVP of a SB (because QB's are 95% likely to win this award). 3. And.. afterby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteBC Ramsfan Wow. SMH. BCNo, others keep posting that we need to appreciate Goff because of the past 18 years of QB's, not me. Pick whichever one's you want for the point. Using those lousy QB's as any kind of a gauge for Goff is a very low bar.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think that's an accurate analogy. Critics of Goff's aren't tired of him out of boredom, he has definite flaws in his game that seem like could have improved over the years. Mainly, consistency. Which reared it's ugly head again last night. I continue to be aggravated by that shortcoming but I also continue to appreciate his durability. He doesn't often string whole good games togetby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 shannon sharpe @ShannonSharpe I guess Brady doesn’t know Goff well enough to shake his hand after losing. Yet, he knows every qb after he wins. Brady is full of what the elephant left on the show ground. His attitude is bulljive and it’s time to call his A** out on it. I actually wonder, does Brady do post game handshakes in general? I have to assume this is classless by Brady butby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamsdude "This game shouldn't have been close at all"...C'mon man. Be honest. You didn;t even expect us to win this game yet alone keep it close! :rolleyes This game would have been a blowout if it wasn't for the refs.Honestly, I'm terrible at picking Rams games. I made no prediction about this one but was very nervous about their chances. QuoteRamsdudeAs for the picks...be sby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteno name Dude. Come on. The fumble was 100% on the center. He snapped it on the wrong count. That's not even debatable. The Henderson INT is on Goff, however Henderson screwed the pooch. When the defender purposely let's you go on a delayed blitz you turn your ass around because you are hot read number one. Instead, Henderson bounced out into the flat. Goff should have seen Henderson's coby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 Yup, both teams stopped their opponents running game. But look at the difference in pass defense!Well, both defenses intercepted the QB twice. But the Rams did MUCH better in terms of YAC.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
That's a good point and one that I didn't take to it's logical conclusion. McVay deserves credit for adapting and attacking what the defense was giving. I think the announcer even mentioned that the defense was daring Goff to beat them. Which, overall, Goff did. Rams will need to continue to adjust though and they seem to have everything they need to play whatever type of game that they want.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteJamesJM was this: While Brady was not 'at his best'... he was very good last night. IOW... Our D, Staley, beat him not because Brady was off (when he got 'off', which he did, it was due to our D), but rather beat him with Brady doing what he's famous for. Or saying it another way... Ram's didn't beat an old, past his prime, has-been - - they beat Brady the HOF QB. VERY proud moment for aby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
First off, the Rams OL! Tremendous job by that group. ZERO sacks against a defense averaging 3 per game. And that wasn't in a run dominated effort on offense. 51 pass attempts, 0 sacks. Awesome job. Defense. Another great effort and they sealed the deal at the end. They did give up a little more than their 5 points in the 2nd half but not much. 10 points against a Brady led offense isby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Quote21Dog had me breaking out a few new swear words. But looking back, I think McVay was a little gun shy after the two INTs and didn't want to blow a chance at a go ahead score.Bingo! It isn't McVay's playcalling that was the problem last night. If anything, we should be praising our coach for working around the turnovers. There's a reason he was calling screens so much. It helps keep thby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Great win for the Rams but another inconsistent night for Goff. Two different QB's from half to half. This game shouldn't have been close at all. But, 2 picks and a fumble in the 2nd half left the Rams depending on their defense to seal the deal. Which they did. The team will be in a much better spot if it has a dominant defense than a one dimensional, passing offense anyway. Top defense, sby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
If Goff "is" a 2 time pro bowl, super bowl QB...what's the problem? I mean, if that's what he is and he's still putting up very mediocre numbers then who or what is to blame? Goff has played twice as much mediocre football at the NFL level than he has played at a pro bowl level. All pro Gurley isn't coming back so I think we have to face what Goff is when he doesn't have an MVP RB.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotezn QuoteRam_Ruler Goff is average to good. It's amazing how many people declare their opinion is the "objective" one. It is actually too soon to say what Goff IS though I am glad that you like everyone else have another unobjective opinion. Here a fact though. You would be hard pressed to name any qb who did NOT have bad games in their 5th year. That means that have aby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com

QuoteBigGame81 I think that's his biggest and maybe only flaw.Yeah, it is really rare for a QB to regularly succeed when telegraphing plays. Even Warner during his SB run with the Cardinals had to learn that. At times, it may seem like you're able to pass at will but it is generally because the defense is guarding against the run and giving up something in the passing game. But usually when tby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Suggesting that people don't know what they're talking about because they must not watch other QB's is bordering on insulting. I don't necessarily know the context of every obscure stat but I do know how Goff's overall numbers compare to his peers as well as how he "looks". It wasn't that long ago that there were long arguments about whether Goff was a top 10 QB or top 5 QB. For theby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotedzrams Quotemax My concern is that they can’t be relied on to tell us who the best CBs are with their grading system. It’s too flawed. As one of the media personalities said today: Good CBs defend passes and get INTs, great CBs don't get targeted. How many CBs are there in the league where opposing QBs just avoid challenging them? Can't be many. For that handful of players, the rankingby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I think we need to be clear about what we're talking about too. Playcalling isn't the same thing as scheme. I think McVay's scheme is just fine. There are plenty of examples of plays that didn't work but had positive options available. The predictability and frequency of plays called comes more into question for me. I think Donald was probably just worn out. Taking on triple teams all day had to be exhausting. But, unlike Goff, when Donald doesn't show up on the stat sheet, it means others, like Floyd, are free to wreak havoc because of how much Donald is absorbing. What he does often doesn't show up on the stat sheet but it is critical to our defense's success.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotemerlin From this article... When the film ends, McVay puts on an old TV copy of the 1981 NFC championship, when Joe Montana and the 49ers defeated the Cowboys on a come-from-behind drive, culminating with The Catch. “Look at them march down the field,” he announces. “People think it’s Joe Montana winning this game. Quotekw13 His record is great. He must be doing something right. Having said that, I can barely tolerate watching this team in the red zone. Want to go puke almost every time.I think it's a byproduct of better scheme than talent. The Rams can move the ball between the '20's but aren't really set up to win talent matchups. Apparently. QuoteAlbaNY_Ram Those are Gurley's stats this year with the Falcons. (Typo on his average, though: 3.7 ypc, not 1.7.)Was wondering about that, thanks. But, as someone else pointed out, if we're going to compare committees, shouldn't we also see Hill's numbers, which would put the Falcons at 215/827 (3.8) and 10 TD. Quotemax there is no one on this team that can take it to the house on a short to intermediate pass.I think when you compound this issue with also not having a receiver that truly threatens a defense by taking the top off and THEN add Goff's inconsistencies, you have what the Rams are dealing with. Goff's actual production is the issue. For the last two years, he's a bottom third ranked QB. That is not hard to replace.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
"and I look forward to seeing his continued development." I don't think anyone would be complaining if that was what we were seeing. But that's the problem. We're not seeing development. The best that can be said is that he has stagnated but realistically, he's regressed. He's inconsistent and streaky and still makes too many turnover worthy plays. Quotestlrams13 McVays offense is a precision offense not a one read and run offenseI think you've got that exactly backwards.
