And the difference with him is he may be a better ball-hawk and deep zone defender than any safety we've had in maybe 2 years . A good supplementary tool set plus his experience and hopefully good football /regular IQ would add to the team even if even only lasts half the year and we get a upgrade somehow at FS. Mine where , Crazy-legs, Deacon , Olsen, Warner, That way at least 3-4 great eras /units were recognised. I couldn't vote for Olsen and not vote for Deacon . Warner's ascendancy is the most unlikely development in 40 odd years of watching football . Just a gifted football player and a incredible person all around besides the road he traveled. Giordano might work as a third safety . But if he becomes the starter at free safety that means the other competition wasnt that great . Which in turn means that free safety zones are going to be tested by opponents who know him well . It could also mean we need a another eval /& look out mid -season for whats available in trade. Come on now I remember reading Bruce could run under 4.5 at his best . He was agile and he did have a 2nd gear. Dont make it sound like he had Jerry Rice timed speed which was reportedly much slower ( around 4.6). Had to chime in there .by CraigMatson - Ramsrule.com Football Forum

I think more like a smaller Holohan. I think he could be the guy that may be more open on third down just because defences dont think he can hurt them deep. He might even be able to sneek big plays via an out and up or get a short post after Cook or Tavon clears out a DB :). That pretty funny to me my family knows Armon and he was more of a basketball talent as a kid and as a Prep at Pasadena High . His mom was shall we say a boisterous fan of his early on too :). He went to a Nike Football camp caught someones eye from Bearcat U and made a career for himself. Armon is also a smart kid with confidence and size. Stacy just needed a bit more pub, height or a tick more speed. I'm sure he was well thought of by any who just looked at his running skills , productivity ,and some of his off field positives so he had to be a favorite of many who were just biding time to select him. Well I think that came from needs to be clarified , ? Sed Ellis would be the only one I'd have interest in. I think we're not going to spend another dollar unless we have to due to unforeseen circumstances with our depth. Matt Conrath needs a good chance to follow up his promising start in last years camp at DT with some playing time and signing a name vet at DT even for Minimum wages kinda erases his chances to put in enough work I believe.by CraigMatson - Ramsrule.com Football Forum

Yeah I barely missed seeing Deacon play as I came on board as a Ram fan in 72' the last year in the Blue and White's and the last year for a few Ram greats . Before the Chuck Knox era came in the next year. Deacon still had something left yes and just as you said Jack Y. was ready to step in . I think McDonald will develop into a solid pro for the Rams . He has better than average size for strong or free safety and I think we will see him produce in a number of ways in the Rams defencive scheme . I'm Ok with Langford also and I believe he could burst out a bit more because he really is more of 3-4 end adjusting to DT but has the athletic talent to break free and sack the QB more than he showed last year. I grew up on this paper and their draft publications from Palmer Hughes to Saint Joel B. , to Nolan Nawraki (excuse sp ers). It was definitely a family business and it along with Football Digest who also went into print heaven seemed to have a pro Rams bias at time which was ok with me :). And defences will try to hit the receivers down-field , Jam them at the line , overload the OL at points to rush the passer and guess on downs that we will over-do the passing game . Draws and screens should go for big yardage . I wanna see some hook and ladder and simple shovel passes that are really just runs . I think they better be careful with having him run anything but sweeps and shovel passes from shotgun. A wing-back Johnny Rodgers type role maybe mixed in with the down-field routes ? Well it would be great also if they bring back some of the routes they used back in the GSOT days minus the hits on the QB. The RB's i hope will be getting coached up and will also be a big part of the passing game. I could see Pead and the others getting over 50-65 passes combined coming their way . Pettis is role player , and a smart um cookie , but the round he was drafted in has little meaning besides his cap value and possibly trade value . His tenure on the team will be the result of whatever vision they have for him , his progress as a NFL talent and how the other WR's shake out.
