"Five reasons the Rams might not, if things go that way instead of this way, make the playoffs". That was just painful to read. Not much in the way of real, indepth thought or analysis. The only point that he made that I thought was worth making was regarding the youth of this team. That was the only point that didn't involve a series of ifs, coulds, possiblys, and maybes. This is football. Anyone can be hurt playing it. Some very large men have had very promising careers cut short by injury (Courtney Brown, Steve Emtman, etc.). Some who have possessed less than ideal size have had long, productive careers. If Austin was 5'11 and 195 lbs. he might not be the dynamic playermaker that he has proven to be over his high school and college careers. Austin could be a larger impact player all around than Amendola. Let's assume for a moment that he is never anything beyond a solid No. 2 receiver. Potentially, he offers options in the running game which would seem to be, from what I have seen, a greater threat than what Amendola presented in the running game. Ginn Jr. was never a receiver. Sure he played the position, but as such, he was a one trick pony. Go long. He never learned to run good routes, never developed the courage to run over the middle, never became a well-rounded receiver. He was a dangerous return man, but he was somewhat unreliable in fielding the kick, even in college. Wisconsin might be the only school that really fits that mold anymore. To some degree, perhaps Iowa, who hasn't been a real threat for a few years, and maybe Michigan State. The others spread it out pretty good. Maybe I should include Penn State on that list, too, but I think that they are probably heading in the direction of the others with Bill O'Brien. Haven't really had my ear to the ground on the matter, but I really haven't heard much reaction to it at all, to be honest. I'm sure the talk will pick up as football season closes in, but so far, not much buzz about it. I think the Big Ten saw it as an opportunity to expand its brand into the east coast market. Don't know much about most of these guys, but living in Big 10 country, I have seen Miller and Martinez quite a bit and I would tend to doubt that either will give many GMs second thoughts about drafting a QB this year. At least at this point in time. Miller, I think, if he works really hard on his form, could have an NFL career under center. I think a lot of people get the permit without considering their own emotional readiness for the possibility that they may have to take someone's life, and also whether or not they are rational and poised enough to make a reasonable decision as to whether to pull their weapon at all or just walk away. Well, a bigger one. I've had a .25 semi around the house for years. But the trajectory that society is on had me thinking about getting something a little more substantial. But it is a nice side show in contrast to the usual 1.5 mile oval. I would, however, like to see NASCAR eliminate the tail end of the weekly field. There are teams taking the track on a weekly basis that simply have no business racing at the highest level. They don't have the resources or the talent, and cheapen the product in my mind. I don't think Danica is overrated. I don't really think anyone is really hyping her as something she is not as a driver. What she is is a good looking female in a man's sport, so, yeah, she is getting a lot of attention in that regard. I like to buy the smaller packages of Millstone Coffee, the flavored variety, and sprinkle small amounts of it into my coffee machine along with the regular amount of my daily brew. It adds a very nice flavor without overwhelming, and it's relatively cheap, which I am all about. Don't like it. Either the lager or the lite. Don't really like too much in the lite beer category. The Yeungling Black and Tan isn't bad, but not memorable. I think the mystique surrounding Yeungling and Coors lies in the fact that they were unavailable here in Ohio. Once Coors was available here, it's popularity gradually faded. I do think he has improved over the course of his college career, but I just am not convinced that he's going to make much of an impact on the next level. My own hair is a little longer. My own concerns with Ryan, as mentioned in a previous post (possibly on the other board) is his bombastic nature unsubstaniated by previous accomplishments. And I'm not suggesting that Ryan has been an awful defensive coordinator. But I really don't see where he has set himself apart from a number of any other defensive coordinators.
