He made some amazing catches with guys all over him. He dropped a fair number that he had no business dropping. My expectation is that there will be some Sundays we love Cook, and other Sundays where he becomes the focus of ire.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Bottom line for me has always been this: In my entire lifetime, the Rams have never been as exciting nor had as much success as when Mike Martz was running the offense and later the whole team. He wasn't the perfect head coach, but you'd be hard-pressed to find many other Rams head coaches who equaled his success. Dude has my respect and gratitude.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Actually, I don't "dislike" the pick so much as I preferred Patterson. I'm worried about Austin's size, but he's clearly got unmatchable afterburners and insane ability to make cuts. I'm excited... just a little worried he'll end up off the field as much or more than Amendola did.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
New toys! You said it. Even when it's not guys I would have preferred, I'm going to be rooting for them to kick as much butt as they can on the field.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Honest question: You're not getting me confused with the other "Eternal" are you (i.e., "EternalRamnation"). That guy is definitely negative. I perceive myself as fairly balanced, but if I'm wrong, I'm open to some introspection on it.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I'm negative on Ogletree b/c the guy just isn't a very nice guy. I'm skeptical about Austin because of his size (I wanted Patterson), but I am excited about his playmaking ability. It's all good. I just don't have the total, unqualified ecstasy that others have. Does that make me less of a Rams fan?by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I'm hoping you guys are right on the money! I'm excited... just a little cautious. :)by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I won't argue with you that the media has anti-Ram bias. I think they do. That said, here's how even I would call it a 'B': They spent #8, trading up to do so, on a guy who even they project to be a #2/#3 receiver on the team. Normally that would be a horrible pick, but Austin's an undeniably dynamic player, so that bumps up the grade.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
This quote scares me a little. QuoteRamBill "Tavon will play a similar position as Danny," Rams general manager Les Snead said by phone Thursday night. "He will also return punts and return kickoffs. And you can do some things with him that may cause defenses to wonder if the play is a throw or a run. Put him with fast tight ends, with our receivers and we're trying to create miby EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Well, he said all the right things. I guess we'll find out how much he means them. This one was Clinton-esque, though: QuoteAlec Ogletree (On what he told the Rams about his off the field issues) āI was young and dumb and made mistakes in my life. Iām just ready to move forward and start this new chapter in my life.ā Yeah, you were "young and dumb" three months ago, but looby EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum

The only thing that gives me a shred of hope is that Janoris Jenkins has worked out pretty well so far. -sigh- He's a Ram now, so all we can do is hope for the best.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Dude will be in jail within two years, and not on the field. :argh My only consolation is that I do generally trust Fisher & Snead. Did we interview Ogletree? He must have given some really good excuse for why he got a DUI during the freaking combine. :bashby EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Journalism has way better tricks than the "anonymous source" trick. Much more subtle/believable/defendable is the "many" trick. Example: Although it is widely believed that the Rams need a true playmaker at the wide receiver position, many within Rams Park believe that the safety position is a growing problem that must be addressed in the first round. (Hint: "many&by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Add to that list: You don't trade a guy you can instantly plug in at LT if your new LT who has a history of injuries gets... you guessed it... injured.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I want to kick Seattle's rear end to close the season. Yes, it could quite easily go the other way, but I like the opportunity to close out the regular season with an azz-whooping on the Seahawks.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
A silly nickname isn't exactly the same as pulling a cell phone out in the middle of the game or signing a football while still on the field. He was a classy guy. He didn't try to draw a ton of attention to himself. The nickname thing is just so minor it's silly.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
There's just not enough good things you can say about the guy. He was a total baller, but classy, tough, amazing work ethic. Played the game, excelled at it, but didn't need media attention to feel fulfilled. He just let his "big game" speak for itself. He's the kind of guy who makes you proud to be a Rams fan.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Er, well... actually, he gets caught from behind in this very video. The play from 1:09-1:18. That's not a knock on Austin. Just pointing out that apparently it does happen.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
The ducking/diving started when he came on board. My guess is that it was an injury-avoidance thing. It did hurt YAC, though, which was a big part of the offense in 1999-2000.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I'm hoping CP's there at #16 for the Rams. I'm not getting my hopes up that he will be, however.by EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I respect your opinion a lot la, but you are just plain dead wrong about this. Go look at the numbers. Torry Holt was the best receiver of the 2000's, hands down. Better than Randy Moss. Better than Terrell Owens. He had ridiculous yards, plenty of TD's, and was a consistent go-to in all kinds of situations, whether you needed a 1st down conversion or you wanted to torch the opponent with an eby EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
You know... if I wanted to be mean and nasty I could put it this way: "So now our sure thing #1 overall QB needs a sure thing at #16 overall in order for him to become the sure thing he was always supposed to be?" But I'm not mean and nasty. ;) Was that highlight reel amazing? Yes. Yes it was. It certainly makes Austin look attractive. Disgruntled: Note the origin of the word "gruntle": "to grumble, from Middle English gruntlen, frequentative of grunten to grunt" But how does that make sense with the prefix "dis-" which usually negates the meaning of the word it attaches to? Well... dis-: All I can figure out is that in "disgruntled" the fourth meaning of "dis-" iby EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Higher up the chain, I mean. By and large, the Rams have been mediocre to awful at the draft since they traded Eric Dickerson and whiffed on all the picks they got out of that. It really didn't matter who the head coach was, the drafting never got better. To me, that signals that whoever was running the front office (John Shaw?) didn't prioritize things like looking for the best scouts and thiby EternalHorns - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I realized a bit later that JT was limiting himself to the St. Louis Rams and not all of Rams history. And you're right that 1st-year RB's often contribute. Well, anyway, the proof will be in the pudding this coming season.by EternalHorns - The Original HERD
QuoteLMU93 I don't think it's really fair to have Watkins, Quick and Pead anywhere on that list at this point. No joke. As Karraker pointed out, Roddy White and VJax didn't exactly tear it up as rookies, but are now among the elite WR's in the league. Some rookies have immediate impact, others don't. You gotta wait at least two years before you start putting them on the "bust" lisby EternalHorns - The Original HERD
Flipper Anderson's record receiving yards game against the Saints was a big standout from my childhood. Kevin Greene had a monster leaping tackle in that game, too. He'd probably get fined for it today. :lol I remember how amped up I was for the opening game of the 2000 season against Denver.
