To me the combine should stay in February, free-agency in March, the draft should stay in April, training camps to July, Preseason games in August and start the regular season in September. You don't move the NFL draft date due the Rockettes! Just have the draft at a different venue like Madison Square Gardens or move it to another city entirely and keep the same date. I agree RockRam. The Rams have invested in getting Sam the playmakers he was lacking last year and invested in the OL with the addition of Long and Saffold moving to RT. The Rams need Bradfor to show them he is be the QB of the future to build around otherwise they will need to look for a future starter. I agree with you that Givens gives the Rams a deep threat in the passing game that the team had been missing for awhile. I'm more concerned about Quick because with his size it seems like he should have been able to used more in certain packages to take advantage of this size. Austin probably made the most sense for the Rams at this time because the Rams already have Given and Quick to play the outside positions. But my concern is the development of Givens and Quick to turn into feature receivers the team can build around. If the Rams decided that the price tag to move up to #8 to take Austin was too much, I really wanted the Rams the Rams to consider Hopkins at #16. This would have given the Rams another WR that could play both outside and inside and the Rams still would have had the #22 pick to trade down. As Les mentioned during the interview, prior to his hiring, the Rams had been the worst team over a 5-year period. Now just after one year and with the help of Kevin Demoff and Jeff Fisher the Rams have rebuilt their roster and now no longer considered the doormat of the division. With only 7 players usually activated for game day, having a player that can back-up every position on the OL makes a huge difference so I think Jones will be on 45 man roster come game day. This gives the Rams a lot of flexibility and allows them to add numbers to other positions. With Stewart and McDonald listed as the starters at FS and SS, I think Cody could make the team as a back-up at either position. He certainly brings more size and athleticism to the position that Craig Dahl and I think Cody would be very good on special teams. I may need to try and make it to training camp this year because I can't wait to see how the Rams try to use Cook along with Given, Quick and Austin. I prefer the Rams current colors of Navy Blue and Gold. I wouldn't mind seeing the Rams go back to a Navy Blue and Yellow scheme, but I really hate the Blue and White uniforms. They are too boring and need another color as it almost reminds me of the Colts uniforms. As long as horns stay on the helmet, I will always be a Rams fan. I loved watching that game and seeing the Rams play physical and tough. The Rams have traditionally been a finesse team in the past so I would love to see this team to continue to develop a physical and edgy attitude so teams don't look forward to playing the Rams because they know they will be in dogfight. I was also looking forward to seeing Stewart last yard before he got injured in training camp. I think once Stewart lost so much time in the preseason that the coaching staff just decided to go with Dahl unfortunately because I think Stewart has more upside potential definitely more athleticism than Dahl. Alec Ogletree will start at WLB and Dunbar will move over to play SLB so there is another new starter on defense. I don't remember what his salary cap hit is for next year, but I could see the Rams releasing Scott Wells in favor of Barret Jones at center in a salary cap move. The Rams were rated #4 before the draft and should be rated #4 after the draft because none of these players have proven anything yet so to raise their ranking at this point would be arbitrary. I think this guy has a chance to make the team at FS and certainly as a back up special teams player. He seems to have some ball skills in coverage and seemed to come up and support the run well and deliver a blow in some instances. Had the Rams not given up their 2nd round pick, Swearinger would be a great addition to the team and solidify the defense in the 2nd round. Now all bets are off. I'm not thrilled with the Austin pick they way some are because Hopkins, Allan, Terrance Williams and several other WR's still available in the late first to second round and now the Rams do not have a pick until the third. The 49ers needed a safety and came up and got the player they wanted while giving up less than what the got in return to get Eric Reed. I was hoping the Rams had a shop at Reid to fill their hole at FS but I guess they will need to look elsewhere. Because they gave up too much in my opinion to get Austin when there are other receivers still on the board. The Rams panicked for fear of what the Jets and 49ers might do so they moved up to take a 5' 8" slot WR / returner. Not a good value for the #8 pick in my opinion. The Rams were afraid the Jets would take Austin at either #9 or #13. They feared the 49ers trading up to get Austin so they panicked and gave up way to much for a 5'8" smurf with speed. Not impressed by the pick but I will cheer for Austin because I'm a Rams fan. If the Rams had the number of picks the 49ers had then yes they could consider moving up. But Austin is not worth moving up form for and from the sounds of the Rams event last night, it sounds like the Rams agree and will not move up. The LT is suppose the be the better pass blocker which is why the Rams replaced Saffold with Long. Yes Saffold knows the program game because he has been in the league for three years. But Flukers is superior run blocker to Saffold right now and has a lot of upside as a pass protector.
