To me the combine should stay in February, free-agency in March, the draft should stay in April, training camps to July, Preseason games in August and start the regular season in September. You don't move the NFL draft date due the Rockettes! Just have the draft at a different venue like Madison Square Gardens or move it to another city entirely and keep the same date. I agree RockRam. The Rams have invested in getting Sam the playmakers he was lacking last year and invested in the OL with the addition of Long and Saffold moving to RT. The Rams need Bradfor to show them he is be the QB of the future to build around otherwise they will need to look for a future starter. Sam is only 25 years old so having him sign another long term contract would not be out ofby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I agree with you that Givens gives the Rams a deep threat in the passing game that the team had been missing for awhile. I'm more concerned about Quick because with his size it seems like he should have been able to used more in certain packages to take advantage of this size. The Rams knew that Quick would take some time to develop last year, but I hope he can take a large step forward this yeby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Austin probably made the most sense for the Rams at this time because the Rams already have Given and Quick to play the outside positions. But my concern is the development of Givens and Quick to turn into feature receivers the team can build around. This will be a big year will be a made or break year for both Givens and Quick because if they cannot develop into consistent contributors this yeby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
If the Rams decided that the price tag to move up to #8 to take Austin was too much, I really wanted the Rams the Rams to consider Hopkins at #16. This would have given the Rams another WR that could play both outside and inside and the Rams still would have had the #22 pick to trade down. Imagine what the draft would have looked like with the Rams taken Hopkins @ #16, Ogletree @ #30 and stillby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Found this article and thought everyone would enjoy it. Adding Jones to the OL is a big move which will impact the Rams not only this year but for years to come. All three of these has played a significant role in making the Rams a better team. Having an owner that is willing to invest in the team with the resources they need to be success makes all the difference and its something the Rams did not alway have under Georgia. I also like the fact that Stan hires good people, give them the resources the need to be successful and then gets out of the way anby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
As Les mentioned during the interview, prior to his hiring, the Rams had been the worst team over a 5-year period. Now just after one year and with the help of Kevin Demoff and Jeff Fisher the Rams have rebuilt their roster and now no longer considered the doormat of the division. It's nice to see the media paying attention to the Rams because it has been a long time in coming. The RG3 trade aby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
With only 7 players usually activated for game day, having a player that can back-up every position on the OL makes a huge difference so I think Jones will be on 45 man roster come game day. This gives the Rams a lot of flexibility and allows them to add numbers to other positions. I think that in addition to the game day starters (Long, Watkins, Wells, Dahl, Saffold), Jones and Barksdale willby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
With Stewart and McDonald listed as the starters at FS and SS, I think Cody could make the team as a back-up at either position. He certainly brings more size and athleticism to the position that Craig Dahl and I think Cody would be very good on special teams. This kid has more highlights in this 15 minute highlight tape than Dahl had all year. I'm not saying Cody would have made the tackle onby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I may need to try and make it to training camp this year because I can't wait to see how the Rams try to use Cook along with Given, Quick and Austin. With the addition of Cook and the mismatches he will create in the secondary, this should also create more opportunities for the RB's to get out into the passing lanes as well along with improved pass protection.by Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I don't know who she is, but she looked great in her black dress sitting on the couch talking NFL this morning. I had the volume turned down so I didn't hear the entire conversation, but quite frankly it didn't really matter what she said if you know what I mean.by Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I prefer the Rams current colors of Navy Blue and Gold. I wouldn't mind seeing the Rams go back to a Navy Blue and Yellow scheme, but I really hate the Blue and White uniforms. They are too boring and need another color as it almost reminds me of the Colts uniforms. As long as horns stay on the helmet, I will always be a Rams fan. But I really hope the Rams keep the Navy Blue color instead ofby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I loved watching that game and seeing the Rams play physical and tough. The Rams have traditionally been a finesse team in the past so I would love to see this team to continue to develop a physical and edgy attitude so teams don't look forward to playing the Rams because they know they will be in dogfight. I was also looking forward to seeing Stewart last yard before he got injured in training camp. I think once Stewart lost so much time in the preseason that the coaching staff just decided to go with Dahl unfortunately because I think Stewart has more upside potential definitely more athleticism than Dahl. It will be interesting to see how the safety position shakes out but I hope the Rams takby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Alec Ogletree will start at WLB and Dunbar will move over to play SLB so there is another new starter on defense. I don't remember what his salary cap hit is for next year, but I could see the Rams releasing Scott Wells in favor of Barret Jones at center in a salary cap move. Lots of moving parts for this years roster and will be fun to see how the part fit together this season.by Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I'll admit I was hoping the Rams drafted Blackmon last year. But he got to camp late, slowly adjusted and now will miss the first part of his second season. Not a good way to start the year. All this is is media fill time because they need something to write about. The Rams were rated #4 before the draft and should be rated #4 after the draft because none of these players have proven anything yet so to raise their ranking at this point would be arbitrary. I think this guy has a chance to make the team at FS and certainly as a back up special teams player. He seems to have some ball skills in coverage and seemed to come up and support the run well and deliver a blow in some instances. Had the Rams not given up their 2nd round pick, Swearinger would be a great addition to the team and solidify the defense in the 2nd round. Now all bets are off. I'm not thrilled with the Austin pick they way some are because Hopkins, Allan, Terrance Williams and several other WR's still available in the late first to second round and now the Rams do not have a pick until the third. The 49ers needed a safety and came up and got the player they wanted while giving up less than what the got in return to get Eric Reed. I was hoping the Rams had a shop at Reid to fill their hole at FS but I guess they will need to look elsewhere. Good move for the 49ers and a decent value because there was no way they were going to use all of the picks they had so they could afford to do this.by Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Because they gave up too much in my opinion to get Austin when there are other receivers still on the board. The Rams panicked for fear of what the Jets and 49ers might do so they moved up to take a 5' 8" slot WR / returner. Not a good value for the #8 pick in my opinion. I love the fact that Snead is willing to wheel and deal to make the team better but he gave up too much for role playeby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
The Rams were afraid the Jets would take Austin at either #9 or #13. They feared the 49ers trading up to get Austin so they panicked and gave up way to much for a 5'8" smurf with speed. Not impressed by the pick but I will cheer for Austin because I'm a Rams fan. Everyone said the value in the draft is in mid first round through the third round and now the Rams don't have a 2nd round pickby Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
Gave up way to much for Austin. Would rather have stayed put and trade back at #22. This was my worst case scenario as the Rams need more picks and now there were still more holes that will not be filled this year. Not happy about this pick at all and I think the Rams panicked. Not a good way to start the draft at all.by Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
There are other receivers that come in and play besides Austin. Quite frankly, I don't want Austin or Patterson in the first round and both players have issues that would prevent me from taking them. Stay the course and see who is available at #16 and then field offers for #22. Tonight should be an exciting night.by Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
I know he didn't play much last year, but I think Ganaway can be the complementary back to Pead and Richardson. I would at least like to see what the kid can do before using another pick on a player the Rams might already have on the roster.by Ramsfan - Ramsrule.com Football Forum
You all provide a lot of great information and back up your opinion with facts. If the Rams had the number of picks the 49ers had then yes they could consider moving up. But Austin is not worth moving up form for and from the sounds of the Rams event last night, it sounds like the Rams agree and will not move up. The LT is suppose the be the better pass blocker which is why the Rams replaced Saffold with Long. Yes Saffold knows the program game because he has been in the league for three years. The issue has been discussed at length regarding Saffold. But you are asking a player that has missed 40% of the games the past two years to move to a position that he has never played nor wants to play and expecting him to do well? Give me a break.
